New Earthquake

New Earthquake: A Mashup Born from Sonic Instinct

When inspiration strikes, it hits like an earthquake—shaking everything you thought you knew about sound, rhythm, and creative boundaries. That’s exactly how New Earthquake came to life—a fusion of two sonic forces that, on paper, might seem like an unlikely pair but, in execution, became something undeniable.

I took the haunting, raw vocals of Jisoo’s “Earthquake” and married them with the hypnotic, pulsating energy of Gorillaz’s “New Gold,” featuring Bootie Brown and Tame Impala. The result? A track that feels both cinematic and electrifying, as if two worlds collided to create something entirely new.

The challenge, of course, was blending them in a way that felt intentional. Jisoo’s voice carries an emotional weight—it’s delicate yet commanding, soaring over the layered production of New Gold, transforming the original song’s groove into something deeper, almost haunting. Bootie Brown’s signature flow lingers in the mix, adding grit that keeps the momentum moving forward. And Tame Impala’s psych-rock soundscapes? They serve as the foundation—the glue that holds it all together.

What I love most about mashups like New Earthquake is how they unlock new dimensions within songs that already exist. “Earthquake” was built on vulnerability, whereas “New Gold” pulses with swagger and futuristic sheen. In combining them, something surreal happens—the vulnerability amplifies the swagger, the softness meets the pulse, and suddenly, there’s a whole new story being told.

Listening back, I can’t help but feel that these two songs were meant to meet. The textures, the emotions, the way the beats sync up like puzzle pieces—it’s proof that music isn’t just about genres or artists; it’s about chemistry.

If you haven’t heard New Earthquake yet, you need to. Plug in, turn it up, and let the tremors take over.

What do you think? I’d love to hear how you experienced it!
